Marroitt's intent is to build a 15 story tower for 120+/- time-share units. There will be no public access to the beach or to any amenities at the Resort. The project relies on Zoning Variances granted to a prior Project - The Mirasol. The Variances have to do with decreased setbacks from the property lines. The building will be 20 feet from the North property Line..... Questions were raised as to the appropriateness of trying to use the prior Variances. |

The Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council presented the evolving "CITIZENS CHARRETTE MASTER PLAN " for the redevelopment of the CRA on Wednesday 30 Jan 2008 in the City Council Chambers.

February 13, 2008 the

November 27th The Palm Beach County Commission PASSED the Amendment to the County Comprehensive Plan to PROTECT SINGER ISLAND The vote was 5 For and 2 Against. In the affirmative were Aaronson, Koons, Marcus, Newell and Santamaria. Opposed were Greene and McCarty. The meeting was well attended with multiple speakers for the Amendment, including State Senator Jeff Atwater. Read his letter and questionnaire. Results of The Palm Beach County Commission meeting to Amend the County Comprehensive Plan to PROTECT SINGER ISLAND It was held as scheduled. Karen Marcus moved to postpone action on the Amendment to the Riviera Beach TCEA. The provisos were that the Amendment be put in Transmittal to the Land Use Advisory Board for August and to the Board of County Commissioners for December. This assures prompt action on the issue. Until the above actions occur, all Traffic Applications for development/redevelopment on Singer Island outside of the TCEA are to be submitted to George Webb, County Engineer, for analysis and transmittal to the Board of County Commissioners before approval. The postponement is good thing which in the end will improve the position of Singer Island. It should not be looked upon as a defeat. We all want to work with and help the city. THANK YOU TO ALL who supported the issue and to those who turned out to the meeting. The County Commissioners who supported Karen Marcus' motion deserve a vote of thanks. Their support allows an opportunity to modify the Amendment, clarify the language, make it more comprehensive and inclusive. Click to send an E-Mail to the County Commissioners.
